I’m actually kind of upset they made James guardian. Like he’s so great in season one, and the set up was perfect for him to be the hero with a pen, and then they ruined it all!! His who arc was him being in Superman’s shadow, and he only got famous because of a photo he took of him, not anything he did, (says this to Kara in s1) SO WHY WASNT HIS WHOLE ARC BEING THE HERO WITH THE CAMERA?? They should have done like James takes all these photos to show that the world really isn’t that bad and show light and hope (Big theme of the show!) into the media empire, making it more authentic, and season one set up was right there and so perfect and in s2 they just…didn’t do it. They made him guardian, cause of course everyone just has to be a superhero. HE WAS THE PERFECT EXAMPLE OF PEN IS MIGHTIER THAN THE SWORD AND THEY CHOSE KARA, A LITERAL BEING WITH SUPERPOWERS, to be that in s4??? Like don’t get me wrong I love reporter Kara and I get the message but?? Why wasn’t it James?? Why did he have to be a superhero??? And then when he leaves and makes it his mission to save the town (they grew up in?? Visited a lot??) the whole reporting gig is corrupted there, and how great would it have been if that was what he was doing? Trying to save the reporting business that he said trained him.

I wish I could tell the younger version of me that it would be ok. She was a young girl with so much love in her heart that she took care of every batch of barn kittens with blankets and food and care, even if their lives were cut short by nature’s seemingly cruel fate. Every kitten was named and each passing was mourned. I never felt like what I did for the little ones mattered.

Today I get to watch six barn kittens grow up in a sheltered enclosure I built and I feed their mama canned cat food, treats, and cuddle them. I even got them all toys! All of them have homes waiting for them.

Fate isn’t cruel nor loving, it just…is. People get the wonderful opportunity to be loving, though.

I’m proud of the love in my heart. Its weathered so much to grow to what it is today, and even if it’s as small as a kitten, it still matters.

I do love the way that Cordy is so obviously just running Angel Investigations all the time. She's doing budgets, chasing invoices, she's making calls, she's getting things signed that need signed. She's not just important for the visions - she's doing the actual on-the-ground things required to allow AI to function as an actual business as well as a journey towards cosmic redemption.
